Why Revenge and Appeasement Do Not Work

If you look at history through out the years you would see that the act of Revenge does not work. Reason for that being is that if a country #1 try’s to get back at country #2 for something that happened in the past it can lead to war because country #2 might just want to do something harmful to country #1 a second time, then allies get involved, and then that normally leads to a world war. This has happened before; in fact that is exactly how World War 2 started. It all started with the Treaty of Versailles, the treaty of Versailles was the treaty that ended WW1, the treaty had many rules/ restrictions for the countries involved to follow, however the treaty was most unfair to Germany. This made the people of Germany mad, it made one man in particular very mad, that mans name was Adolf Hitler. He wanted revenge, so he did not follow the treaty; in fact he did many things against the treaty, like to build an Army, and an Air Force. When Hitler got his revenge on Great Britain other countries got involved which resulted in WW2.

Appeasement is another strategy that just did not seem to work through out history. If a country decides to use the strategy of appeasement, this means that if country #2 was being threatened by country #1, country #2 decides not to act because they think it will all just stop, until it gets to late and country #2 gets attacked. This same kind of thing happened before WW2, because Germany was going to get back at Great Britain, but Great Britain wasn’t worried, they thought that they were protected by their surrounding countries, but it turns out they weren’t.
